About the 16th Annual Summer Institute: Women’s Sexual Health & Wellness

The Summer Institute advocates for sexuality education, research, and activism to be inclusive of all women. We focus on the intersectional identities of “women,” social justice, sexual health, and cutting edge research. Our presentations will include a focus on trans women, women of color, nonbinary women, sex workers, immigrant women, disabled women, and other intersectional women’s identities which are underrepresented. We also turn our attention to the important issues of bodily autonomy, reproductive freedom, and rights for gender and sexuality minorities.

We will have 35-50 participants, including, students, faculty, and professionals, who are traveling from around the globe to attend this in-depth, five-day study.

Programming

The Institute will run Tuesday through Saturday, June 5-9, 2018, approximately 9am-5pm at the downtown San Francisco State University campus. There will be breaks for lunch and seminars at the end of each day for the cohort to discuss the day’s speakers, extrapolate on theories, apply the concepts to our own work, and network with other participants. There will be a Resource Fair and Networking Luncheon on Friday, which will include local health- and sexuality-focused organizations, graduate school programs, career opportunities, and more.

The overall programming is not yet complete. The sessions, presenters, and schedule will be announced in February.

Registration, Pricing, & Accommodations

Registration for the Summer Institute on Sexuality will begin in mid-January. You can sign up for one single day of the Institute, the weekend (Friday and Saturday), or the entire week.
