The Reframing the IUD Initiative sets out to identify barriers to intrauterine device (IUD) use in the United States, with the ultimate goal of developing approaches to increase knowledge and promoting IUD usage among young women.
Projects under the Initiative include:
– A national survey of young men and women to assess contraceptive knowledge, attitudes and use.
-A secondary data analysis of unmarried young men’s knowledge of and attitudes toward IUDs.
-A participatory ethnographic research project with young women of color, utilizing the framework of reproductive justice to conceptualize barriers to IUD use.
