We Have Merged!

Published under:

After years of collaboration and important work in sexuality and sexual health research, education, training, and policy, the National Sexuality Resource Center and the Center for Research on Gender and Sexuality have finally decided to merge!  From this moment forward, we will be known as the Center for Research and Education on Gender and Sexuality (or CREGS for short)!

This exciting news is also an opportunity to refocus our mission and our work. Over a decade ago, former US Surgeon General David Satcher made a call to action to promote sexual health and responsible behavior to combat the negative sexual health outcomes and disparities prevalent in the US. Since that time, the National Sexuality Resource Center has provided the Summer Institute on Sexuality, the premiere summer program for promoting healthy sexuality in the country. The Center for Research on Gender and Sexuality has engaged in several large-scale, nationwide research studies in an effort to reduce these outcomes. Together, the legacies of these two groundbreaking centers will be joined to continue promoting healthy sexuality and reducing sexual health disparities..

In the words of Dr. Satcher: “Sexual health and well-being should be addressed by communities—these aren’t individual problems. Centers like CREGS provide tools and knowledge that communities and organizations can use to improve sexual health.”

With the change comes some administrative work. Our website will be under construction for the next 24 - 72 hours, so please be patient with us as we make the changes necessary for our new center. As of February 8, our new website will be cregs.sfsu.edu. Please update your bookmarks!
